Phase 2: Land Use, Goals, & Strategies
Phase 2 focused on drafting an updated Future Land Use Plan. The Future Land Use Plan is a visionary and strategic plan for the future of the County. It sets a vision for where new growth should occur and identifies areas that should be preserved as rural. However, it does not carry the force of law and does not dictate what a property owner can legally do on their property, i.e. it is not zoning. It can be used to inform future zoning decisions such as requests to rezone a property or a County-wide zoning map and ordinance update. We conducted community engagement opportunities to hear community input about topics of land use and transportation, with the following goals:
Explain the purpose of Land Use Planning in the Comprehensive Plan and ask for input about the future Land Use Vision.
Ask for input about the County’s existing and future transportation network and facilities.

The coversation is intended to allow young people to get involved and share their ideas. Families and younger siblings are welcome to come and listen.
